Both Marvel and DC need a hard reboot and go back at least before 2015. I think there 2 disabled ones and 2 nonbinary/crossdressing ones. But 1 is both. There is a Earth 11 version of Wallace West (aka New52 Wally West) that is nonbinary/crossdressing, what wouldn't even make sense as that isn't how that universe works. Doomsday Clock is a far superior sequel 2 Watchmen comics than that awful tv series. Dark Crisis was supposed 2 be a hard reboot that they chickened out from. Around the time that (awful) She-Hulk tv show came out they finally had that long teased She-Hulk event in comics were she is main character, but they shrank it 2 just a Fantastic Four event, it was a waste of looooooooooooooooooooong wait. The annual gala was in universe every few months and not yearly. The writers didn't understand how a moving timescale works.

When every event is big, none of them are. Crossovers seem to be the one trick their pony knows and it's definitely getting tiring.

You can just watch Gary's coverage of House of the Dragon to see that he has no problem with women leads, major black characters and gay dudes coming into the story. Actually it was the lesbian scene out of nowhere that caused problems. But as Eric says, they don't care.

Modern comic writers lack the humility to maintain the status quo and tell stories while confined by the rules set by others.

I call it "Eventitis", where now everybody wants their story to be that big event everyone wants to talk about, and the publishers want every story a trade collection because they don't understand why trade collections used to work. So every story is a mini-event and then there's the big crossovers multiple times a year. It's like a fireworks show that goes on so long that they get boring after a while. Only we crossed that line eons ago.

A disability maybe? YES!!! LET'S GIVE HER A DISABILITY!" Company suck ups: "Brilliant idea sir, greatest idea in the history of ideas" I find comics tiresome because it's thousands of characters, multiple connected storylines, you start a storyline in a Batman book then it continues in a Justice League book, then it continues in a Teen titans book and so on jumping around, then you got the multiverses, it's hard to follow, like you guys said, it's a major event after another completely forgetting the previous cannon events, etc... it's exhausting.

I think we have all come to agree that Heel and Rip are the duo we didn't know we needed.

My advice for creators: learn any one of the top 3 generative AIs currently available. In two years, the AI won't need your prompts but at least that's 2 more years before no one has jobs and the gov't waits a month and everyone starved to death but the cannibals.

I stopped collecting comics entirely because I couldn’t follow regular titles without them being hijacked twice a year for crossovers or events. And all that on top of rising prices. Been over six years and the only thing I miss is stories from creators who’ve already left the big two completely.

Yup, they've been doing this for a while now to try and inflate numbers by using events and tying as many other comic issues to the event to try and sell more copies. And as expected, these events never did much for sales and just made events annoying and boring. Spamming events was a big tactic for dc/marvel, along with constant reboots to #1 and insane amount of covers for every issue, yet their numbers never improved cause none of this shit means anything to the real problem - bad writing, horrible stories, characters no one likes, bad art, garbage writers.
